IFLA holds August 24 seminar on “AV Collections for Non-Specialist Librarians”

IFLA Audiovisual and Multimedia Section, in collaboration with the Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Associations (CCAAA), is organizing a one-day training workshop, Milano, Italy, on 24th August 2009, entitled:

AV Collections for Non-Specialist Librarians

This workshop is for professional Librarians in organizations where preservation of, and provision of access to, audiovisual materials is not the main preoccupation, but who need to understand and apply basic principles in limited circumstances.

Funding assistance for participation in this workshop is available through a grant from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Funding is intended to assist librarians from developing countries by defraying travel and subsistence costs. Priority is being given to female candidates and those from Least Developed Countries, Africa and small island states. There will be at least eight awards; the maximum for any individual award will be $2,000.00 (US).

Applicants must be employed as librarians or archivists or in a closely-related field, and demonstrate the need to improve their skills and knowledge by attending this workshop. They will be responsible for acquiring any necessary visa or travel documentation.

Successful applicants will have their Workshop Registration pre-paid. After the workshop, they will have the cost of their travel, simple lodging and meals reimbursed, up to a maximum of $2,000 (US), on submission of an expenses form accompanied by original receipts and a brief report (one page) outlining the benefits derived from the Workshop.
