The National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) will host the Southeast Asia Regional Branch of International Council on Archives (SARBICA) International Seminar on 23 – 25 November 2021.
The theme for this year is “Safeguarding the Archives: Memory, Pandemic, and Technology”. The objective of the event is to discuss the effort in safeguarding the archives by the archival organizations and communities from three different perspectives: the role of archives as documentary heritage, the response to the pandemic, and the utilization of technology by digital transformation on archives.
The SARBICA International Seminar will be a 3-day seminar to be held via Zoom webinar:
(1) Webinar Day 1: Archives, Memory and World Documentary Heritage (23 November 2021, 8:30 – 12:30)
Webinar Day 1 will discuss the relationship between archives, documentary heritage, and culture, which are fundamental in nominating the archives in the UNESCO’s Memory of the World (MOW) international register.

(2) Webinar Day 2: Archives and Pandemic Response (24 November 2021, 13:00 – 16:00)
Webinar Day 2 will discuss how the archival institutions document and preserve the information regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, and the roles and responses of these archival institutions for the preservation and management of their audiovisual archives during the pandemic situation.
SEAPAVAA’s President, Karen Chan, will be presenting at this webinar at 14:05 – 15:05 (Indonesia Time, GMT+7) with the topic, “Preservation and Access on Audiovisual Archives in the midst of Pandemic”.
