7th Eye International Conference 2022, 29 – 31 May 2022

Eye Filmmuseum, University of Amsterdam (UvA), Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA), and Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) will present the 7th Eye International Conference on ‘Global Audiovisual Archiving: Exchange of Knowledge and Practices’ on 29 – 31 May 2022.

The 2022 edition will focus on the imbalance or current misrepresentation of global audiovisual heritage holdings, looking in particular at the alarming scarcity of audiovisual heritage from the Global South in the digital space. The conference offers a space to consider the impact of geographical location, the availability of resources, technical and digital gaps, and different audiovisual traditions.

The Eye International Conference 2022 will take place in Amsterdam, the Netherlands from 29 May to 31 May 2022. Please note that the official opening of the Eye International Conference will take place on 28 May 2022 at 7:00 PM (Amsterdam, GMT+2) before the screening of Vrouwen van Suriname (Oema foe Sranan, 1978).

Participants are also invited to two annual side events:

  • Meet the Archive, a public program highlighting recent projects with the Eye Collection, on Saturday, 28 May 2022.
  • Open House at the Eye Collection Centre, a program of guided tours, presentations, demonstrations, and screenings, on 1 June 2022.

This year, Eye Filmmuseum is offering a hybrid conference format to accommodate everyone. Please note that all presenters must register for the conference. There is a different registration fee for on-site and virtual participants. Unfortunately, it is not possible to return purchased tickets.

Sanchai Chotirosseranee (Deputy Director of Thai Film Archive and Secretary-General of SEAPAVAA) and Sasikorn Likhitwong (Thai Film Archive) will present on Day 3 of the Eye International Conference on 31st May 2022 with the topic, “Infinity War on Film Archive”.
