Theme: Audiovisual Archives Management

The Fifteenth Conference and General Assembly of the South East Asia-Pacific Audio Visual Archive Association (SEAPAVAA) was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 06 to 10 June 2011.
The theme for this year’s conference, “Audiovisual Archives Management,” seek to address the concerns and meet the challenges that faces archives today in light rapid developments in technology, the heightened need for access of information, and the maintenance and preservation of archives all over.
The conference offered an overview of the current changes that are experienced in the management of audiovisual documentation and developments which can forecast a result of the migration from analogue to digital information. Audiovisual technology had developed gradually in sophistication, even as its use has become widespread, especially by the educational sector, in business presentations, in the entertainment industry and in other areas.
The conference is held in the conjunction with the International Archive Day (9th June 2011). Alongside the conference is a parallel event, the Coordinating Council of Audiovisual Archives Association (CCAAA) meeting hosted by SEAPAVAA.
The conference includes a symposium, roundtable discussions, a one-day workshop, archival gem screenings, institutional visits, the General Assembly, and a retreat-excursion. It was hosted by the National Archives of Malaysia with programme proper held in the National Audiovisual Documentation And Conservation Centre.
