2020 Cancelled Conference

In early March 2020, the immediate past SEAPAVAA Executive Council (EC) (2017 – 2020) after extensive deliberations and in consultation with the host institution Vietnam Film Institute (VFI), decided to cancel SEAPAVAA’s 24th Conference and General Assembly scheduled for Da Nang, Vietnam from 8th – 12th June 2020. The cancellation announcement was duly announced to our members and all concerned parties via email and SEAPAVAA’s corporate website.

The Covid-19 pandemic and messages of concern received from the SEAPAVAA membership as well as the association’s supporters and well-wishers led the EC to conclude that this was a necessary course of action.

In place of a physical 24th General Assembly (GA), the EC organized its 1st electronic General Assembly. The electronic 24th GA was conducted from 3rd – 30th June 2020 using means such as e-mail, official corporate website, eBallot online voting system, and response form.

The year 2020 was SEAPAVAA’s election year for a new Executive Council for a three-year term of 2020 – 2023. The electoral process was conducted electronically from 25th May – 25th June 2020. A new set of Councillors was elected for a three-year term 2020 – 2023 comprising of Karen Chan (President), Sanchai Chotirosseranee (Secretary General), Joshua Harris (Treasurer), Joie Springer, Mai Hoang, Pawarisa Nipawattanapong, Swee Cheng Wong, and Young-Ie Wuo.
